British Midland

British Midland otherwise referred to as bmi, is based in the Donington Hall, United Kingdom operating scheduled services. Carrying out more than 1700 flights per week BMI flies to 36 airports within Europe, United Kingdom, India, Saudi Arabia the U.S. and the Caribbean.

The airlines major hubs are located at London Heathrow Airport and Manchester Airport.

In 1964 the company changed its name to British Midland Airways (BMA) and moved operations to the East Midlands Airport. The blue and white colour scheme was adopted at that time. In 1985 a new colour scheme of very dark blue and a deep grey bottom half of the fuselage with a red relief was exposed. Aircraft were now painted in very dark blue, with a deep grey lower half of the fuselage and a red relief. It was at this time that the airline became British Midland, and a new logo of a stylised red BM crowned with a diamond shape appeared on the aircraft tailfins

In 1992, British Midland was the very first airline to offer a meal choice for vegetarian choice on UK domestic services.
